VERSATILE
Looked for an accurate and quick way to mark the location of brackets for inside mount shades.  Versatile enough to transfer mounting depth info from shade to the window.
Shade Position
  • Determine a point of reference on the inside of the window, front edge is often a great place to start.
  • Determine a point on the head rail/cassette which will correspond with the edge of the window casing.
  • Desired appearance of mounted shade.
  • Leading edge of shade positioned at front of window.
Bracket Placement
  • Place the bracket on the shade in preparation for determining the depth of the mounting brackets hole.
  • Overlay the MARK IT on the shade with the ruler edge aligning with the point/plane on the shade that corresponds to your reference point on the window frame.
  • This will allow you to determine which colored hole in the template aligns with the hole in the bracket.
MARK IT Locator Hole
  • Check and see which colored hole best aligns with the hole in the bracket. -Note that the ruler edge represents the edge of the window frame.
  • Confirm which hole you will employ for marking mounting screw locations.
Marking Window
  • Place MARK IT in the window frame, ensure ruler edge is even with window frame. Mark the appropriate coloured hole.
  • Align template ruled edge with edge of window.
  • Mark window frame using appropriate colored locator hole.
  • Screw location established.
Note: that the template will place the center of the mounting bracket 3” from the corner of the window frame. (3” from the end of the shade)
If the manufacturer recommends that the bracket be closer to the end or further away, use the ruler to mark the distance from the end of the shade where the bracket should be placed. Then reset the leading edge and mark the appropriate colored hole.
Marking Window
  • Flip the MARK IT over and repeat the process on the opposing side of the window.
  • Ensure template ruled edge aligns with window frame.
  • Opposing screw location established.
Again Note

that the mark will be 3” from the corner of the window. Adjust distance as necessary.

  • Repeat the process for all brackets in the middle of the shade.
  • Ensure ruled edge aligns with window frame.
Attach Bracket
  • Prepare bracket and screw for attachment.
  • Easily hold screw and bracket securely for comfortable accurate placement.
  • Attach bracket to window.
  • Repeat for all marked bracket locations.
Product Variations
  • Using the same process.
  • Applies to brackets from all manufacturers .

The MARK IT can be used on various brackets supplied by manufacturers.
Always ensure that the ruled edge of the template is aligned to a point on the shade which corresponds to a point of reference on the window frame.

Outside Mount
  • Ruled and colored locator holes simplify bracket placement.
  • Flip the MARK IT template.
  • Easily transfer screw locations to opposing side.
For outside mounts, the template can be used in creative ways to mark a screw hole location.

Similarly the MARK IT can be used to copy a marked screw location, then quickly transfer it to the opposite side of the window.
